One of few advantages for musicians in the lockdown has been the extra free time they can dedicate to writing new music. That however is irrelevant for Johnny Mansfield as his most recent album Portrait was written, recorded and mixed all in a 21 hour period.
It would have been easy for Johnny to just record an album of solo vibraphone covers but instead he produced what could take a full band months to write and record. Not only does this album show commitment but also a joy to creating music and finding new sounds which can only be shown by the amount of instruments he managed to play throughout the one day session: Vibraphone, Drum Kit, Percussion, Pandeiro, Piano, Korg Minilogue, Critter and Guitari Organelle and Vocals. Johnny is definitely a musical force not to be reckoned with.
