There’s a reason why this isn’t the first time we’ve featured Jacob Collier on JAZZ LOCKDOWN. Since his first viral one-man cover of Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely in 2012, Jacob has been exciting the jazz sphere with his immense talent on almost every instrument possible. His iconic multiframe covers completely recorded by himself in his music room became an internet sensation causing him to record his Grammy Award Winning 2016 In My Room album and then tour an one-man show in which he built up the sound of a full band by looping himself live on stage.
Jacob is no stranger to sharing the stage either though, having performed at two BBC Proms (the second one entirely dedicated to launching his four album project Djesse) and recorded with popular jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy.
Most recently however, for NPR’s Tiny Desk series, Jacob has recorded a one man quartet performance which truly sums up the entirety of his work so far. Playing original music off his recent albums but with the energy and joy of his original one man videos in a format that took him 6 days to plan, Jacob Collier: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert is the ultimate showcase of this extraordinary musician.
