Featured on this week’s jazz mix is a tune by London-based multi instrumentalist Jacob Collier. Jacob has made quite a name for himself in the last decade, arriving on the scene through a series of Youtube covers which feature everything from microtonal acapellas to funk breakdowns, all performed by himself in his music room. These covers became the In my Room album which he toured as solo performances, looping all of the instruments he plays live on stage. He has had his own BBC Prom and is now creating a series of 4 linked albums which he has been slowly releasing across the last few years. From this “super album” is the song All I Need which he recently performed in his bathroom for the American talk-show Jimmy Kimmel Live.
